Anthony Halliday先生

Anthony Halliday

Piano/Organ Teacher

Anthony Halliday gives piano and organ recitals and concerto performances annually in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, England, Ireland and throughout Australasia. His playing is critically acclaimed by several internationally renowned conductors, Walter Süsskind hailed his performance of Beethoven’s fourth piano concerto as “magnificent”.

During his recent European tours he has performed in Festivals at St. Thomas’ Church Leipzig, Kölner Dom, Berlin, Neuss, Kleve, Paderdorn and Düsseldorf. He was also commissioned by the ancient City of Kleve to compose a large scale piano piece Symphony for Kleve which he premiered. In London he has performed in The Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall, Westminster Abbey, Westminster Cathedral and St Paul’s Cathedral. In Rome he has performed at St Peter’s Basilica, for World Organ Week. His recent CD’S of Piano and organ music include works by Bach, Duruflé, Widor, and his own compositions.

He has had a long association with St. Francis Church as principal organist and as director of St. Joseph’s Collegium at St. Joseph’s West Brunswick.

He became the first artist outside Europe and America invited to give the opening recital in the International Bach Organ Festival in St. Thomas’ Church Leipzig, Germany the famous church where Bach was organist and is now buried. The Leipzig press described him as “One of the great international organists”. He has also performed in the Cologne Cathedral International Organ Festival and Festivals in Paderborn, Dusseldorf, and Kevelaer. During his 2015 tour the Bonn press described him as “Hercules of the keyboard”.

He has received numerous prizes including all the Fellowship prizes at the Royal College of Organists London, and the Silver Medal of The Worshipful Company of Musicians London. He won first prize playing Bartok’s virtuosic second piano concerto in the A.B.C. Commonwealth Concerto Competition just five years after beginning to learn piano.

In 2012 he collaborated with Sir Charles MacKerras in arranging MacKerras’ complex triple Fugue for eight pianos for Steinway celebrations at the Sydney Opera House. Anthony Halliday has also composed several commissioned works including large scale masses and motets for choir, orchestra and soloists and organ pieces Fantasy on Lutheran Chorales and Fantasy on Easter Hymns. He was recently commissioned to compose a cycle of symphonic orchestrations of traditional hymns of Ireland. His recent CD’s of piano music feature works by Händel, Beethoven, Liszt, Saint-Saëns and Shafton. He has recorded all 32 sonatas for pianoforte by Beethoven and recently performed from memory the complete 48 preludes and fugues of the Well Tempered Clavier by J. S Bach.

Milly小姐

Michelle Wang小姐

在2008年,Michelle通过了中国音乐家协会的钢琴演奏十级,并获得包括2008年中国未来之星比赛青少年组的金奖和2012年中韩才艺表演金奖等多个奖项。

她现在由墨尔本大学的Elizabeth Mitchell教授教导。

Thomas Tuena

Business Manager, Singer, Guitar Teacher

Thomas Tuena began instrumental lessons at the age of 7 and since then his love for music has developed into a full time occupation. Thomas is originally from the country town of Shepparton and began performing regularly at the local “Yahoo bar” when he was 17. He moved to Melbourne in 2003 and completed an Advanced Diploma of Music Performance at Box Hill Institute in 2007. Since then has been performing regularly at weddings, bars, cafes and festivals in Melbourne and across country Victoria.

Thomas began writing and recording music at the age of 14 and in 2011 he released his debut album “The River” to a sold out show at the Chapel off Chapel in Prahran. He continues to craft songs in various music groups throughout the week and is currently working on a second album. Thomas began teaching privately whilst studying at Box Hill Tafe and has predominantly taught primary aged students for the past 10 years. He is passionate in seeing students reach their full potential teaching skills such as: sight reading, writing, theory, how to practice, aural and improvisation. Thomas is currently teaching at Mckinnon Arts Centre and Learn Music in Kew.

A majority of Thomas’s time is currently dedicated to facilitating music programs for people with special needs. He is committed to creating opportunities for all participants to enjoy music with each program being performance based integrating; songwriting, movement and instrumental instruction. Thomas is currently facilitating music programs for Villa Maria Catholic Homes, W.A.T.C.H. Disability services Inc, Belgrave South Community House, Araluen, Maroondah City Council and The Pioneers. Not only has Thomas’ love for music become a full time occupation it has also enriched his life by connecting him with many amazing and inspiring people. He looks forward to working together with you in the near future.

Velicia Loura小姐

Hi! My name is Velicia Loura, I began taking piano lessons at the age of 7 and I have completed Grade 8 ABRSM Piano Examination. I'm currently in my first year of Bachelor of Classical Music Performance at Monash University. Music has always been an important part of my life.  It has brought me a sense of joy and peace.  One of the greatest joys as a music teacher is watching my students become musicians in their own right. Then they can experience the joy of music making for themselves. My goal is to share this excitement and to use my knowledge to help instill a love of music in my work with students of all ages. Creating a fun environment for learning while challenging the student to achieve more than they think they can is very important to me. I love sharing the joy of music and learning!

Piano Teacher

Hong Yue Lo, Tobey is a Melbourne-based pianist. She was born and raised in Hong Kong, and is currently studying the Bachelor of Music at the University of Melbourne. She started playing piano at the age of 7 and completed her ATCL exam when she reached 15. She also participated in many competitions and concerts such as Hong Kong School Music Festival and concerts held by the university.

As a music lover she hopes her passion in piano can be shared to the others. Instead of forcing her students she focuses on arousing her students’ interest. So the student not only acquire an exam-oriented skill but also enjoyment in piano.

Wensi Sun小姐

Wensi 从少年开始进行正规的绘画训练,求学并毕业于鲁迅美术学院和皇家理工学院,具有深厚扎实的的美术功底,其中包括油画,中国画,雕塑,陶艺和 版画等。她的绘画作品曾多次在澳洲和中国的重要画廊中展出,并写作和发表过多篇专业论文。

Xiwen(Maggie)

麦曦文老师(Maggie)有14年长笛学习与演奏的经验,并在Monash University完成了她的音乐训练,师从音乐演奏教育家Sylvie Leprohon,曾举办多次小型个人音乐会,并参加多个不同形式Music ensembles(比如管乐团,长笛合奏团,室内乐,摇滚乐队)的演出,对如何与不同的乐器和乐手配合有很深的了解,能让学生在学会熟练演奏自己乐器的同时能学会与他人配合。
Xiwen现正在University of Melbourne完成她的中学音乐教育硕士学位,她在墨尔本的不同中学中担任过音乐课堂老师和课外ensembles排练的指挥对VCAA(Victorian Curriculum)包括VCE music performance units有很深的了解,可以帮助学生理解平时在学校音乐课上遇到的问题,并指导他们为VCE音乐考试做准备。

Tamanna Kaul 小姐

Tamanna is a Melbourne based artist and performer. In 2019 she completed 'Acting Studio' at VCA, whilst also training at The Improv Conspiracy. She also trained in ballet at Elance Adult Ballet School for 2 years and other dance training at various institutions. Prior to that, she completed 'Music Theatre Studio' at VCA in 2016. In 2021, Tamanna was a part of various shows such as Maybe This Time (Be You Inc.) and Time for a Video Chat (Plain English Theatre Co.). She is a part of the 2021 Backing Vocalists for Broadway Unplugged. She is also part of the cast of Sense & Sensibility: The Musical (24 Carrot Prod.) and The Breaths In Between (11 O'Clock Theatre).

Tamanna is always determined to hone in on her skills as a music theatre performer, as well as an artist and musician. She currently does vocal training with David Butler and has continued her acting and dance training as much as possible during the unpredictable lockdowns and quarantines.

Regina Lin

Piano Teacher

Regina Lin is a classical pianist currently based in Melbourne, who is passionate about discovering various types of music. She began her musical journey at the age of 4 and has completed her ALCM exam in piano performance in 2019. Besides playing the piano, she also played the flute, and has completed ABRSM grade 8 flute exam in 2017. She also participated in many competitions and has given performances in Penang, Malaysia, including solo piano and flute recitals. Regina is not only an experienced pianist but also an established music teacher. She teaches students ranging from four years old to adults. As an enthusiastic and passionate teacher, she strives to provide well-rounded music education and ensure that her students are engaged in her lessons. She believes that all children are musical and they have distinct learning needs. In her lesson, she often tailors the curriculums based on students’ needs. She aims to inspire and guide students to discover the joy of music, nurture their musical creativity, and help them achieve music literacy. Regina is currently completing her studies at Monash University and has been studying with Mr Robert Chamberlain, and is currently under the tutelage of Dr. Tomoe Kawabata.

Amelia Liu

Piano/Singing/Art Teacher

Amelia Liu is a multi-talented creative artist with impressive abilities in digital drawing, sketching, and music. She obtained her Bachelor of Art and Design from the School of Design Jiangnan University in China in 2014 and her Master of Animation, Games, and Interactivity from RMIT University, Melbourne in 2017. Amelia's love for drawing was evident in her early years, winning several awards in children's art competitions during elementary school. She underwent years of intensive visual art training, including classical pencil and charcoal drawing of sculptures, gouache, portrait, figure, and still life sketches. During her sophomore year, she studied graphic design and oil painting as an exchange student at Wichita State University. Before moving to Australia, she also took manga and comic classes at Kudan Institute in Tokyo, Japan. Her passion for animation and visual interaction led her to study animation and learn storyboarding at RMIT AGI Studio. Jason

Piano/Singing/Guitar Teacher

Jheison Felipe Lopez Valencia, 28 years old. Jheison started in the world of music at the age of 15 years old in the Casa De La Cultura Dosquebradas from his hometown of Pereira in Colombia. Two years studying guitar in that school led to him making the decision to study a Bachelor of Music Education at the Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira, the program from which he graduated in January 2020. During his major, which focused on classical guitar, Jheison was taught by Edison Sandoval and Alejandro Montoya, both of whom are extremely well-recognised guitarists in Colombia. At that time, Jheison also had the opportunity to have master classes with renowned guitarists around Latino America such as Edwin Guevara from Colombia, Martin Marino from Argentina and Hector Vudoyra from Mexico. Although his education in university focused on classical guitar, Jheison has been always fascinated by the world of jazz, pop and rock music. So before graduating from his Bachelor, Jheison began learning to play and master these musical genres based on his previous knowledge. He then enrolled into the virtual courses of Jazz Improvisation and History and Theory of Blues Music with Berkeley College of Music and Rochester University respectively. He went on to take master jazz guitar classes with teachers Jaime Jaramillo from Universidad de Caldas and Carlos Peralta from Fernando Sor Institute, both of whom boast huge  experience in professional jazz music. These classes were thoroughly enjoyable and profitable. Finally, Jheison has been part of many musical projects, playing around his native country and also having his own band in which he played numerous gigs with. He then moved to Australia one year ago  looking to keep developing his musical skills and searching for the opportunity to achieve his goal of getting his Master Degree of Jazz Music at an excellent university in Melbourne.
Vera

Art Teacher

Vera is a qualified counsellor and founder of Expressive Art Therapy. She loves to heal and enhance the life of others. She brings years of counselling experience in the mental health field and dedication to the forefront. She has studied a Bachelor of Science (Majoring in Psychology and Zoology) at Monash University followed by a Graduate Diploma of Counselling at the Australian College of Applied Psychology. Vera is member of PACFA and is registered as a NDIS Provider. Vera is experienced with working with people of different ages, genders, cultural backgrounds and disabilities. In the sessions she uses art as a rewarding medium to enhance self-expression when one can't gather the words to say and assist in building resilience. The counselling services is available online and face to face in the studio at BumbleBee Arts Centre in McKinnon and at Stable Health in Hampton.
Susan Zhang

Piano Teacher

Susan started her music journey at the age of 4, the holder of Music Scholarship and Head of Instrumental Music when she was in high school. At the age of 15, she has completed Diploma- Associate in Music, Australia (AmusA) of the Australian Music Examinations Board. As an all round artist, Susan also loves dancing and arts. Taken lessons in the area of Chinese Ink wash painting in China Welfare Institute Children’s Palace, she has embraced her love for painting further in Australia, as she composes acrylic paintings, animal sketches, and self-composes many drawing. Piano/Bass/Guitar Teacher

Max began learning music at the age of 3, and has become a proficient multi-instrumentalist, playing Piano, Bass and Guitar. His passion for music and performance landed him the opportunity to perform at the Melbourne Arts Centre at 14 as the assistant musical director of the St Martin's Youth Theatre production: Love Letters.
Max has played with bands and ensembles of a variety of musical styles since adolescence and is intimately familiar with the stylistic conventions of a wide diversity of musical traditions. He has provided private tuition to students in a variety of styles since he was 18.
Max will use these skills to instill a love of musical performance and the capacity to adapt to whatever path students may take.
Ilona Kalifa

Art/ Singing Teacher

Embarking on her artistic journey at the age of 5, Ilona is a versatile creative artist with a specialization in realistic portraiture. Additionally, she shares a profound passion for various artistic expressions such as painting, etching, mosaics/ceramics, collage, mixed media, as well as digital art and design. Ilona pursued three art subjects during VCE, earning a raw score of 40 in Studio Arts. Throughout her school years at McKinnon Secondary College, Ilona has received recognition through 6 art awards. Notably, in 2022, she secured the Studio Arts Award for her series 'Endless Pain,' which delves into the vulnerability of grief among adolescents. In addition to possessing a Certificate III in Interior Decoration and Design Retail Services from the Holmesglen Institute, Ilona is currently studying for a Bachelor of Interior Architecture at Swinburne University of Technology. Ilona consistently participates in creative activities with children, aiming to share her passion for art with today's youth and inspire them to embark on their own artistic journeys. Her love for music was influenced by her late grandmother, a local singer in Melbourne during the 60s. However, given her multicultural background, she also takes great pleasure in a varied range of music, spanning from early 2000s Reggateton to 80s rock. Ilona took three years of singing lessons before immersing herself in an eight-year experience with the school choir, which played a crucial role in overcoming her stage fright. At the youthful age of 12, in 2017, Ilona secured the 3rd position in a school singing competition that featured over 200 other participants. Furthermore, Ilona's mother, a primary school teacher and former owner of an afterschool music and educational program, instilled in her a deep enjoyment of working with children and engaging in musical activities alongside them.

Piano / Cello

Sheena holds a master's degree in performance teaching from the University of Melbourne, mentored by Elizabeth Mitchell, and a Bachelor of Music with Honors from the University of Waikato, New Zealand. She teaches piano at St Francis Xavier College and serves as an Instrumental Group Teacher for beginners in clarinet, saxophone, and percussion. She also instructed cello and strings at Glen Eira College. With over seven years of experience, Sheena has guided students to achieve A+ Honors in AMEB examinations and Distinctions in ANZCA, ABRSM, and Trinity piano examinations. She is dedicated to providing comprehensive instruction in music theory and tailors her teaching to blend classical and light jazz styles. Drawing from diverse musical genres, Sheena integrates methodologies from Suzuki, YAMAHA, and Kodály to offer a personalized educational experience. Committed to her own growth as a pianist and educator, she strives to continue learning and contributing to the field.
